Alternative Health, Wellness and Me

I live with husband, adult son and a menagerie of animals in a semi-rural area in QLD, Australia. Gardeners and farmers abound. There’s a Steiner School, organic whole foods shop, organic farm, great coffee shops, alternative health businesses and even a crystal shop. Privilege abounds.

People around here don’t worry about having a roof over their heads or how they’ll pay the rent (mortgage stress maybe) or put food on the table. Basic needs are covered.

But living in this wee paradise doesn’t make the residents immune to life’s horrible stuff, to cancer, bereavement, mental health struggles, miscarriage, postnatal depression, alcohol and drug addiction, domestic violence and childhood abuse.

It’s all here. So along with the alternative health practitioners are the usual conventional health places, GP’s, psychologists, pharmacists, physios , radiologists, dentists.
